We are thrilled to share that our lab member, Annie Trainer, attended the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC®) held in the picturesque city of Amsterdam from July 16th to 20th, 2023. Annie had the honor of presenting our lab's research findings, specifically focusing on tau epicenter identification and connectivity within the heterogeneous clinical variants of Alzheimer’s disease.

Annie shared her enthusiasm about the conference, saying, "I have been having a great time seeing the diversity of research talks that are going on and seeing the enthusiasm everyone has for this work. It’s been a lot of fun so far. I’m excited to see what the rest of the conference has to offer".

Annie's research delves into the intricate web of tau pathology, a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease, and explores its connectivity in various clinical manifestations. Her work not only contributes to the growing body of knowledge about Alzheimer's disease but also sheds light on potential avenues for targeted interventions.

Beyond her contributions to the AAIC®, Annie recently attended a special Alzheimer's Association event, providing a unique perspective on the collaborative efforts in Alzheimer's research and care. She described it as an intimate cocktail hour where she, along with two other Alzheimer's Association representatives, engaged in a panel discussion led by Kristen Cusato, former journalist and Director of Communications at the Alzheimer’s Association. The event provided a unique insight into the dedication and hard work of individuals contributing to Alzheimer's disease research and care beyond the lab.

The Alzheimer's Association event offered a more intimate setting for Annie to engage with fellow researchers and Alzheimer's advocates. The panel discussion format facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas, showcasing the shared commitment to advancing Alzheimer's research and care.

As we reflect on Annie's impactful contributions to both the AAIC® 2023 and the Alzheimer's Association event, our excitement extends to the future. Annie Trainer's commitment and dedication exemplify our lab's mission to make meaningful strides in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Looking ahead, the next significant opportunity for our lab is the 16th Annual Human Amyloid Imaging (HAI) Conference, scheduled from January 17-19, 2024, at the James L. Knight International Center in Miami, Florida. Annie, along with Raina Vin, neuroscience PhD student, have submitted an abstract for a poster presentation titled "Multimodal Analysis of Tau Epicenters in Heterogeneous Alzheimer’s Disease Variants." This upcoming conference provides another platform for our lab to showcase innovative insights, engage with the broader scientific community, and further our commitment to unraveling the complexities of Alzheimer's disease.
